Our Success Stories
“Massive thank you to Christina in helping us navigate areas of career development which can seem overwhelming. I really like the way the professional network recognises the different ways we need to develop and learn in an ever-changing landscape.
Sometimes with career development it’s overwhelming, where do I begin? Where do I go for advice?
It’s great to learn from experts who are good at converting industry, privacy language into everyday easy to understand terminology.”
“Our exclusive professional network provides a rare forum to interact openly and transparently for those of us who sit in a unique space as Black professionals in privacy. As a member of the team, it feels great to share my career journey while learning from others.
Sherif has been a great partner for us, providing ongoing guidance and support. Shoosmith’s commitment as sponsor to our network is proving invaluable.”
“The network has significantly enhanced my confidence, particularly in preparing for and attending interviews. Through pre-interview training sessions with network members, I have gained valuable insights and recommendations that have proven instrumental in my interview success. Consequently, I have successfully navigated interviews and progressed to final stages. Additionally, the experiences shared by other network members have provided guidance and encouragement, helping me navigate my career path more effectively”
“I haven’t attended many webinars, however, the ones I have attended were all amazing. I have had the opportunity to connect with many knowledgeable individuals in this professional network and I look forward to meeting them in-person”.
"I have benefited from the professional network by gaining the opportunity to network and connect with other professionals in the field, as Data Protection lawyers often work in a silo, and it is very useful to have a network to reach out to”
“I have benefited from the professional network over the past year through the ability to connect with other Black privacy professionals. This has allowed me to build my privacy network which is very important to me as an up-and-coming privacy professional”
“The updates from other privacy professionals and opportunities to work with them and having access to other privacy professionals gives an insight to what is happening in other industries or countries. So it’s a way to learn unofficially. “
“It was lovely to meet members in-person at the Shoosmiths session and then at the One Trust social! “
“It was just lovely to be in a room with everyone hearing about each other’s career journey and sharing war stories. The slide deck on career development helped me realise how much more intentional I must be about keeping track of my knowledge and experience and reflecting on what career progression would look like for me.
Thanks Christina, for getting us all together and I look forward to the next in-person meeting.”
“It was a great opportunity to spend time hearing not just from our skillful facilitator, Christina, but also from members on the strategies we can use to navigate a career in the data privacy space. The tips provided and resulting discussions, in a small in-person setting, provided an opportunity for candid discussions on the challenges and opportunities as a PrivSec professional."
“I attended my first Skills Development event at Shoosmiths last week and I would say it is worth it.
It goes beyond privacy and into more how to be better as a person and what I learnt that day, I can say it’s worth its weight in gold.
Also, learning from others (either through their journey or knowing their beliefs and abilities) encourages me that this group is the right group for me”
“Impressive work, Christina. The UK Black Privacy Professionals network will make substantial advancements within the privacy sector while simultaneously championing diversity and inclusivity. Your commitment to enhancing visibility and collaborating with the UK Black Business Show is indeed commendable.
Looking forward to the UKBBS and the insightful discussions it promises”
